quinoaperu was designed to host a wide variety of aspects in Peruvian cuisine. Quinoa is a grain that comes from the high plains in Peru and Bolivia and has been a staple food for the Andean communities for millenia before Europeans colonized the region. In the past decade the consumption of quinoa has spread to many western nations for its high protein content and balanced set of amino acids.
The importance of quinoa in Peruvian cuisine is relative since it is only a small representation of products that have been preserved and transformed from many cultures, ages and time periods. That is exactly what Peruvian cuisine is, a mix of Pre-Columbian cultures with Spanish flavors, and contributions by Chinese and African immigrants.
In the past twenty years the cooking revolution in Peru has also being taking strength and now it is ready to share it with the world. Our mission is first and foremost to inform of changes, news, developments and recommendations in this growing market that is all about the foods of Peru.
As part of this project, quinoaperu will take on many social media tools to reach a broader range of communities throughout the World Wide Web. This at the end, will provide the user a wide array of possibilities to chose from when visiting Peru and trying out the best Peru has to offer in gastronomics.
