Finding Your Way

Vickie learned to play tennis, at 11 years old, hitting a tennis ball against the Brighouse Elementary School wall. A pivotal point in her life. When she plays tennis she feels more comfortable in her skin. With tennis, “I can be so-so at some things and really good at others but you can still find the flow and experience the moment. It becomes an expression of who you are.” Tennis teaches you to exploit your strengths. Tennis has been a part of Vickie’s life on and off for 40 years.

First and Forever Loves, The movie Wizard of Oz, tobogganing, singing like a screech owl, her family and Babs. “Everything about her stood out – her energy, her sense of humour, her voice and the fact that she was a woman.” Let’s not forget pancakes and bacon with real maple syrup, Banff and Airmiles. She has earned cappuccino makers, telescopes, CDs, Roots, Chapters and Boston Pizza gift certificates.

Vickie’s dream is to be a “prolific writer and painter in the second half” of her life. Her greatest strength, her sense of humour, will help her accomplish her dream. “I think a sense of humour allows you to look at things from both sides. It’s about floating up, looking down and going Oh God and thinking I don’t totally get this but I need to get it out.“
